Craniotomy Surgery sample version (~50 MB file).
This is a custom animation demonstrating the craniotomy surgical procedure. First, the
woman's external injuries, skull fractures, epidural hematoma and subdural hematoma
are shown. Then she is prepped for surgery by her head being shaved and the MRI with
the corresponding illustration of her two hematomas is revealed.
The next segment of the animation addresses the emergency craniotomy and evacuation
procedure. The initial incision is made, followed by the drilling of three burr holes. Next,
the saw creates a bone flap by cutting between the burr holes and the epidural hematoma
is revealed. The epidural hematoma is removed, or evacuated, and the dura is cut open,
revealing the subdural hematoma. Once the subdural hematoma is removed, the dura is
sutured closed and the bone flap is put back in place with plates. Lastly, the scalp incision
is stapled closed.
